Audi and Mercedes outsold BMW in India for Q1

BMW was the undisputed king in the luxury market for the past 3 years. Audi was coming strong after each passing years. Last year they managed to get sales almost close to BMW. Audi India is very aggressive and new products have come to India market in no time after their global launch. This is one of the main reasons for Audi Success in India.

Now Q1 sales figures have come out. Audi India Overtook the BMW for the number one position in luxury car market. Audi sold 2616 units which is a 15 % growth over the same time last year. But the big surprise is that Mercedes Benz also outsold BMW. Mercedes Benz sold 2009 units with a 5 % growth over the last year. While BMW has got the 3rd Place with 1410 units and 40 % loss of sales compared to the last year. Audi Q3, Q5, A4 and A6 are all very popular in Indian market.

In 2012 Audi India was the fastest growing group in Audi Subsidaries around the world. A spoke person from BMW has told ET that “ The BMW Group is a very successful global company and continues to strive for a worldwide balance in sales. We will continue to our success story in India in 2013 due to the availability of new models such as the BMW 1 Series in the third quarter and a full year availability of the BMW 3 Series this year.”

Audi India head Micheal Perschke is confident that Audi will continue the strong growth which was 2012. With the launch of new models and updated Model Audi will be Aiming for number one spot in Luxury car Market if possible in 2013. Mercedes will also Aim for the number one spot with the introduction of A Class, GL and the CLA sedan. Indian Luxury car market is dominated by German Trio and we will wait for it see who will come out on Top.
