Audi R8 – full blooded sporting experience

The Audi R8 is a result of longtime work of Ingolstadt‘s designers, developers and technicians. One say that the Audi R8 is a symbol of history and powerful experience (not only from dirty tracks) of Audi, second one thinks that this is a new way of automotive industry. Both are right.

Audi and this model is a part of the best automotive production. Maybe it’s not so powerful as Lamborghini, or Ferrari, but it has definitely place between them.

This sporting roadster with the aluminum chassis (just only 210kg) and LED daylights has become a hit of the year. Sharp lines, sporting look and perfect aerodynamics are priorities of this German monster.

The car has carbon elements both outside and inside, giant openings outside; amazing interior and extreme width prove its sporting hearth.

The engine above the rear axle is the biggest lure of this model. A donor of the engine is the most sporting version of the A4 series called Audi RS4.

But it’s more agile thanks to the Audi R8’s lower weight. The engine placed under the vision glass is a 4.2 liter V8 with a FSI direct injection. It can produce 420 hp at 7800 rpm. Speeding is easy and providing by 430 Nm of giant torque. These parameters allow the car to reach 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and 300 km/h without any electronic limits.

Preview 2009 Audi S7




Audi is preparing a new four-door coupe positioned between its A8 limo and A6 models and, as with any new Audi, theres invariably a performance "S" model. Aimed at the segment starter, Mercedes svelte CLS saloon, the new A7 should arrive on the market in early 2009 and will be joined by a convertible version one year later.
Standard models will get the usual assortment of FSI and TDI six and eight cylinder engines but a new top of the line S7 is tipped to get the naturally aspirated 5.2L V10 engine from the S6. The S7 will also benefit from Audi quattro and the carmakers new sport differential torque distribution set-up.
Depending on the success of the car, there could even be a new super-saloon in the form of a RS7 powered by the new 580hp twin-turbo engine that debuted in the new RS6.
These new renderings of the car reveal designers wont be making any drastic changes to Audis current design language, with the new S7 taking many cues from the S5 and S4 models. One of the new themes set for Audis performance models is the clean front end, devoid of any fog lights, and it appears this will carry for the future S7 as well.

Future years brought changes of colors but no technical upgrades or redesigned elements could be found on Honda’s 1300cc cruiser. In order for the bike to be upgraded, the VTX series would have to follow its footsteps but we all know that Honda won’t start with the VTX1300 as a bigger machine waits to give the tone. Although similar to the 1800, the engine is not just a smaller bore/stroke but a different design. This lead to great sales numbers and the motor company was satisfied with the results of its new cruiser.This gives us a good expectative and a clear clue of when this machine will be redesigned.The VTX 1300 was introduced with a muscular looking body, being quite long and low to the ground featuring significant rake and trail. It presented unliked brakes, with a single large front disk. The VTX1300 also uses a carburetor unlike the fuel injected VTX1800, and therefore is much simpler in terms of design.

Latest Audi uses Blackfin and SHARC processors

Audi is using Analog Devices Blackfin and SHARC processors in its new A5 Coupé. The A5 includes the Symphony and Concert advanced digital radios, a Digital Audio Broadcast option, a six CD changer and a MultiMedia Device Interface for connecting to personal media players.

Shoei RF 1100 Motorcycle Helmet Review



Shoei RF-1100 Motorcycle Helmet cut out
The Shoei RF-1100s all-new, Snell M2010-approved shell is stronger and lighter thanks to Shoei’s proprietary AIM+ technology, which combines fiberglass with ultra-strong organic fibers.
Shoei has been manufacturing motorcycle helmets since 1960, and over the past 50 years the company has become known for innovation and quality. Shoei was the first to use carbon fiber in motorcycle helmets in 1976, and it introduced the first ventilated motorcycle helmet in 1984.
The RF-1000—Shoei’s dedicated sport-touring helmet—was introduced in 2003. In his evaluation (Rider, July 2004), Mark Tuttle wrote: “From the RF-105 [in the mid-’80s] to the second-latest RF-900, the watchwords for the line have been quiet and comfortable.” Compared to the RF-900, the 1000 was lighter, more aerodynamic and just as comfortable, though marginally noisier. With the RF-1100, Shoei has further refined its best-selling helmet. The all-new, Snell M2010-approved shell is stronger and lighter thanks to Shoei’s proprietary AIM+ technology, which combines fiberglass with ultra-strong organic fibers. The RF-1000’s plastic, lift-reducing Aero Wing has been replaced with a shell-integrated rear spoiler.
The new shell features three front intake vents and six rear exhaust vents, all of which can be opened and closed with gloved fingers. Wind tunnel testing resulted in the exhaust vents being moved higher on the back of the helmet, which provides more negative pressure suction and better ventilation. Open some vents and close others for a balance between comfort and quiet.
A cool new feature is the Quick Release Self-Adjusting (QRSA) base plate system, which still allows for easy face shield changes without tools but offers a bonus. When the shield is lowered, the patented, spring-loaded base plate pulls the shield back to ensure a tight, waterproof seal. Since the RF-1100’s eye port is a few millimeters larger in each direction, the new CW-1 face shield is likewise wider and taller. Furthermore, it blocks 99 percent of UVA and UVB radiation and is compatible with Shoei’s optional Pinlock anti-fog system.
The dual-layer EPS liner offers two densities of protection with built-in ventilation tunnels for unrestricted airflow. The plush interior is fully removable, washable and replaceable, and it includes eyeglass channels and an integrated, padded neck collar to reduce wind noise. Interior padding combines a center pad contoured for a comfortable, yet firm, hold on the rider’s head, and multilayer cheek pads in six thicknesses. The breath guard and chin curtain are removable.
Although helmet fit varies person to person, the RF-1100 was immediately comfortable. I used to develop a hot spot on my forehead wearing the RF-1000, but not with the 1100. And thanks to the thicker padding around the neck, my head feels more secure inside the helmet. However, zooming along at 55 mph with all vents closed and no earplugs, the RF-1100 isn’t appreciably quieter than the RF-1000. Nonetheless, this helmet is one of the quietest and most comfortable I’ve ever worn. The new model is nominally heavier—3.5 pounds for the RF-1100 compared to 3.4 pounds for the RF-1000, size medium—but I never noticed that extra 1.6 ounces. I love the positive action and tight seal of the QRSA face shield mechanism, as well as the generous ventilation. Mark’s earlier assessment applies to the RF-1100 as well: “A solid improvement on an already great lid.”
Shoei’s RF-1100 comes in five shell sizes (the 1000 had four) to accommodate a full range of helmet sizes, from XXS-3XL. MSRP: $399.99 for solid colors, $419.99 for metallics and $499.99 for graphics (3XL available in limited solids and metallics but no graphics for $433.99-$454.99).

2011 Vauxhall VXR8

The previous Vauxhall VXR8 representing the old version of the lower-spec ClubSport R8, the new VXR8 is now based on HSV E3 GTS model, just launched in Australia. The new are packing heavily revised front- and rear-end styling, a new cabin and a raft of new technology to enhance its appeal to drivers in search of one of the last, great rear-drive V8 super-saloons.

The styling design get ‘Shockwave’ grille, LED daytime running lights and sleek new wing-vents mark the new car out from the front, while the rear features a new ‘Superflow’ rear spoiler, LED tail lamps and twin exhaust tips that mimic the shape of the front grille.
The new Vauxhall VXR8’s race-bred chassis uses MacPherson struts/progressive rate coil springs at the front and a multi-link independent set-up at the rear. But for the first time on a VXR8, Vauxhall has employed Magnetic Ride Control (MRC), a suspension system which adapts up to 1000 times a seconds to road conditions and driver inputs.
Based on technology used in GM’s current Corvette ZR1 supercar, MRC works by sending an electric current through damper units filled with ’soft’ magnetic particles. These particles harden as the input reaches its maximum value, providing drivers with exceptional levels of ride, handling and stopping power.
It is equipped MRC is Launch Control, which is engaged when drivers select the ESC’s (Electronic Stability Control) Competition Mode. The system dictates the level of torque delivered to the rear wheels for maximum acceleration, according to surface conditions. All the driver has to do is floor the throttle and let the car do the rest.
2011 Vauxhall VXR8 powered by fourth generation 6.2-litre LS3 unit produces 431PS and a massive 550Nm of torque, enough to propel the VXR8 from 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds and on to a governed top speed of 155mph. As before, drive is delivered to the rear axle via either a six-speed manual or auto transmission, working through a mechanical limited slip differential.
In interior there are tull leather trim is now standard, and front occupants are cocooned in special HSV Performance Seats with eight-way adjustability. A new instrument cluster and surround, centre stack and switchgear provide a cleaner and more integrated look, while standard equipment also includes Aux-in/USB inputs, iPod support and Bluetooth with phone book display and touch-screen dialling.
As before, Vauxhall has introduced EDI, or Enhanced Driver Interface. EDI connects with the on-board computer to constantly stream real-time vehicle dynamics and performance to the car’s main 5-inch monitor. At the touch of the screen, drivers can access a variety of data such as vehicle G-forces, power and torque and lap times – even the degree to which their Vauxhall VXR8 is drifting. Completing the clever package is the ability for drivers to download data, such as track day performance, and analyse it using the MOTEC i2 software provided.

Honda Considering Sub Brio Hatch Back for India

Honda India is seeing good roads ahead for the company. From the past couple of years Honda India was going through rough patches Because of the lack of diesel engines. Now past is past Honda has finally developed a new diesel engine which can be used in India. And it will debut in India on April 11th in Honda Amaze. Honda Amaze is the company big volume model for now.

Honda really want to move up the ladder in number of sales. Honda is going to develop a Sub Brio Hatch Back for India. New hatch back is targeted for the A- segment which see the high number of car sales in India. Honda’s new hatch back will fight against Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon. Honda is currently going through the market study stage. There are no decisions has been taken yet.

Mr. Hironori Kanayama, president & CEO of Honda Cars India said that they doesn’t have a small petrol engine except the 660 cc engine from Kei cars. Honda has no plans to introduce Kei cars in India. So Honda will either develop a global small car or a India specific hatch back. Honda India is investing Rs 2500 crore in the plant to expand the production facilities.

Honda Brio starts at Rs 4.12 Lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi) and the new hatch back will be priced below this. To make the pricing possible Honda will give 90 % Localization for the hatch back. A- segment is a very price sensitive market and Honda must get the price spot on. With these Volume cars Honda is coming back to the golden days.

Back in December 2007, we announced that BMW is looking into the possibility of building an electric car for the U.S market. Just a few months later, a BMW executive reported that BMW might go the electric route for the american market rather than hydrogen. Shortly after that, based on a rumor from Autoblog, we figured that, if BMW will revive the Isetta, it will not happen before 2012.
Well, it seems like we were right again. Autocar UK has just reported that a rear-engined city car could be called Isetta and will first arrive in American showrooms in 2012. BMW is kinda forced into making this car available to the U.S market because of a California regulation which stip
ulates that large auto makers to sell between a few hundred and a few thousand Zero Emission Vehicle every year starting in 2012. Under the Californian regulations, the Zero Emission Vehicles can either be a fuel cell or battery-powered vehicle with a range of over 200 miles, or an Advanced Technology, Partial Zero-Emission Vehicle (AT-PZEV) powered by a hybrid powertrain, by compressed natural gas (CNG) or by a methanol fuel cell.

The new Isetta will also spawn a new range of city cars. The new range will be powered both diesel and gasoline powerplants, and future models could even be motivated by BMW motorcycle engines.

BMW has to decide which brand it will market the new car under and is still c
onsidering a partnership with another automaker. “It could be BMW, Mini or another name,” BMW chief Norbert Reithofer told AutoCar. He continued by saying “co-operation [with another car maker] is possible,” stating that BMW would decide on the matter by the end of 2008.

But after the extensive rumors of a BMW-Fiat partnership dissipated, a new rumor emerged that BMW would be instead turning to Toyota for its iQ platform. This arrangement seems more likely as the iQ has already been getting around other automaker’s garages, as seen with the recent Aston Martin Cygnet.

Isetta is the result of BMW’s “Project i unit,” which has been working largely independently to develop electric car technology. BMW has not released any specifics on this technology, but it is expected that some form of pure EV or hybrid technology will eventually make its way into the Isetta production car.

Power for the Isetta will come from a lithium-ion battery pack with a range of about 100 miles as a pure-EV. BMW is also developing a range of gas and diesel engines for the Isetta, although those variants will likely be reserved for developing regions – particularly China.
